NEGATIVELY CHARGED MICROSCOPE COVERSLIPS

Negatively Charged Non-Adhesive Treated Microscope Cover Slips

Permanent Negative-Charge Surface, Superhydrophobic Nanocoating, Borosilicate 3.3 Glass, Designed Specifically for Automated Coverslippers

Product Description

ViePath™ Negatively Charged Non-Adhesive Cover Slips are made of Borosilicate 3.3 glass. Featuring a superhydrophobic surface with permanent negative charge, they possess good physical toughness and excellent anti-adhesion performance.

Glass is electrically neutral under normal conditions. Since silicon in glass has relatively weak binding force on electrons, when a hole-type nanocoating is sprayed onto the cover slip surface, electrons from the glass migrate to the holes of molecules in the surface coating. This renders the cover slip surface negatively charged

Once the cover slips carry negative charges, obvious repulsion occurs between them. On the microscopic scale, this follows Coulomb’s Law of electric charges: like charges repel, and opposite charges attract. When a cover slip surface bears negative charges, the negative charges on adjacent surfaces generate electric fields around one another. The negative charges on each cover slip lie within the electric field produced by the other cover slip. This electric force acts in directions away from each other along the line connecting the centers of the two cover slips, resulting in mutual repulsion between the cover slips.

With the popularization of automated pathological staining equipment, ViePath™ Negatively Charged Non-Adhesive Cover Slips can largely prevent equipment alarms and downtime caused by broken, chipped or stuck cover slips during high-throughput automated staining and coverslipping. It reduces manual intervention and enables true unattended operation of integrated automated staining and coverslipping systems.

ViePath™ Principle of Negatively Charged Non-Adhesive Cover Slips

Electrostatic Repulsion Mechanism Dynamic Stability

Negative charges on the surface repel one another via Coulomb force, forming a physical separation gap of 0.5–1 μm to completely eliminate stacking and adhesion of cover slips.

Superhydrophobic Nanocoating

Each cover slip is treated with the superhydrophobic nanocoating. Its surface does not absorb moisture from the air, preventing condensation and avoiding adhesion issues caused by humidity.

Permanent Negative-Charge Technology

Silicon electron transfer is induced by the hole-type nanocoating, accumulating permanent negative charges on the surface. The charge density reaches 10⁴–10⁵ e/cm². Coulomb force generates mutual repulsion between cover slips to achieve an optimal anti-adhesion effect.
