NEGATIVELY CHARGED MICROSCOPE COVERSLIPS

Permanent negative charge surface, superhydrophobic nanocoating, 3.3 high-borosilicate glass material, specially designed for automated coverslipping equipment.

Product Description

The ViePath™ negatively charged anti-adhesion coverslips are made of 3.3 high-borosilicate glass. Featuring a superhydrophobic surface and permanent negative charge, they deliver excellent physical toughness and exceptional anti-adhesion performance.

Glass is electrically neutral under normal conditions. Since silicon in glass has a relatively weak electron binding capacity, a hole-type nanocoating is applied onto the coverslip surface, which drives electrons from the glass surface to transfer into the holes of the coating molecules, thus imparting a negative charge to the coverslip surface.

When coverslips carry negative charges, a distinct repulsion arises between them. At the microscopic level, this follows Coulomb’s law: like charges repel each other, while opposite charges attract. As the surfaces of adjacent coverslips carry negative charges, the negative charges on each surface generate an electric field around one another. The negative charges on each coverslip lie within the electric field produced by the adjacent coverslip, and the resulting electric field force acts in opposite directions along the line connecting the centers of the two coverslips, leading to mutual repulsion between the coverslips.

With the growing prevalence of automated pathological staining equipment, ViePath™ negatively charged anti-adhesion coverslips minimize equipment alarms and downtime caused by coverslip chipping, breakage and adhesion during high-throughput automated staining and coverslipping workflows. They reduce manual intervention and enable truly unattended operation of integrated automated staining and coverslipping systems.

Principle of ViePath™ Negatively Charged Anti-Adhesion Coverslips

Electrostatic Repulsion Mechanism Dynamic Stability

Surface negative charges repel each other via Coulomb force, creating a physical separation gap of 0.5–1 μm and completely eliminating stacking adhesion of coverslips.

The nanocoating is chemically bonded to the glass substrate to ensure uniform charge distribution and avoid localized charge imbalance.

Superhydrophobic Nanocoating

Each coverslip features a superhydrophobic coating that repels airborne moisture, prevents condensation, and eliminates moisture-induced adhesion issues.

Permanent Negative Charge Technology

The hole-type nanocoating induces electron transfer from silicon atoms in the glass, leading to permanent negative charge accumulation on the surface with a charge density of 10⁴–10⁵ e/cm². Coulomb force creates mutual repulsion between adjacent coverslips, delivering superior anti-adhesion performance.
